The Procedure
How does Smartlipo work?
Laserlipolysis is a procedure that uses laser energy and heat to melt the membranes of fat cells.
The laser also heats the surrounding blood vessels and tissue thus minimizing bleeding, bruising
and trauma. This means patients recover faster and have less pain and discomfort from the procedure.
The procedure is commonly performed under local and tumescent anesthesia. A very small cannula is introduced through a small 1 – 2 mm incision in the skin and into fat cell areas. The tip of the laser fiber
is placed through the cannula into the fatty tissue and then moved back and forth fanning pattern.
Fat cells are melted and the fatty oils are then removed from beneath the skin.
