The Procedure

The administration of Dermal Fillers is simple, non surgical procedure. There is minimal recovery or downtime so you can plan your appointment around your busy schedule. There are some minor reactions after dermal filler treatment that you may consider when scheduling (see below).

Prior to your treatment or first visit:

We recommend that for at least a week prior to treatment that you avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID's). NSAID’s are medications commonly prescribed for arthritis. This is in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Because many of these procedures are done on the face or other exposed area, this is a situation that we would like to avoid.

When you arrive:

If this is your first visit, the staff will establish a chart where we will ask about your medical history, including any allergies that you may have and medications that you may take. We will discuss the process and answer any questions you may have about dermal fillers. In some situations an allergy test will be performed consisting of injecting a small amount of the filler under the skin to evaluate your compatibility to this treatment.

Determining your treatment needs:

We will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment needs. There are several different types of dermal fillers that allow us to select the best filler for your unique needs. In some cases we may recommend and alternative therapy such as BOTOX. Pre-treatment and post-treatment photographs are required by our practice. This allows us to show you the difference that our treatment has made.

Before the procedure:

Anesthesia is not required but in some circumstances we may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the area first.

The procedure:

We will ease the injectable dermal filler under your skin to augment and fill wrinkles and folds. Following the injection we may gently massage the treated areas. The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself usually takes only about 15 minutes.

After the procedure:

There is minimal recovery or downtime. We will tell you when makeup may be applied after your treatment.
